Tinubu commissions Mabushi–Ahmadu Bello way link road, reaffirms commitment to FCT devt
President Bola Tinubu on Friday commissioned the newly completed Collector Roads C01 and C02 in Abuja’s Mabushi District, saying the project reflects his administration’s commitment to expanding infrastructure and unlocking the economic potential of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima at the commissioning ceremony, the President said the 3.4-kilometre road project, which links the Mabushi Bus Terminal to Ahmadu Bello Way, would ease traffic congestion, improve connectivity and stimulate economic activities in the capital city.
Tinubu described infrastructure as the foundation of economic growth, noting that the new road would enhance mobility, create opportunities for businesses and improve the quality of life for residents.
“We are not just opening two roads; we are opening up Abuja. We are connecting people to opportunity and cutting hours of waste from daily life,” the President said.
He commended the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, for translating the administration’s development agenda into tangible projects, saying the ongoing infrastructure drive is transforming both the city centre and satellite towns.
“I gave you a simple charge: ‘Make Abuja work for all.’ You took it and ran with it. From satellite towns to the city centre, you are turning blueprints into roads people can drive on today,” Tinubu added.
Earlier, Wike said the road project was part of the administration’s resolve to ensure every district in the FCT benefits from ongoing infrastructure development.
He noted that the commissioning formed part of a series of completed projects being inaugurated to mark the third anniversary of the Tinubu administration, adding that additional road projects would be commissioned in the coming days, including one in Karu Satellite Town.
The minister attributed the pace of infrastructure delivery in the FCT to the President’s support, describing Tinubu’s leadership as focused and result-oriented.
According to Wike, the newly completed road has already begun attracting private investment, particularly in the real estate sector, with residential developments springing up along the corridor.
Minister of State for the FCT, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, described the project as another milestone in the transformation of Abuja, saying it would improve connectivity and enhance the capital city’s aesthetics.
She urged residents to protect the infrastructure, while appreciating the National Assembly, security agencies, traditional rulers, members of the diplomatic community and FCTA workers for supporting the administration’s development efforts.
Providing technical details, Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), Engr. Richard Yunana Dauda, said the project involved the construction of Collector Roads C01 and C02, covering about 3.4 kilometres of dual carriageway with two lanes in each direction.
He said the road was delivered with complementary infrastructure, including drainage systems, box culverts, sewer and water pipelines, telecommunication ducts, pedestrian walkways and street lighting.
Managing Director of Setraco Nigeria Plc, Engr. Ziad Mouannes, said construction began in September 2025 and was completed in less than 10 months.
He added that the project was executed to high engineering standards using quality materials and thanked the FCT Administration for its confidence in the company.
