Dr. Adachukwu Ikeyi, Lady Captain of Enugu Golf Club, ladies subsection, has urged women to always play the game of golf to help them burn out calories.
Ikeyi gave this advice during the celebration of the 2021 Women’s Golf Day at the golf section of Enugu Sports Club on Tuesday in Enugu.
The captain, who said that the Enugu Golf Club course is a nine-hole course, noted that the lady golfers played nine holes to commemorate this year’s event.
She explained that it would take approximately two hours to do nine holes.
“An exercise of two hours will give you a full exercise of the body and help you burn some calories,” Ikeyi said.
She said that the game of golf also helped increase physical and mental alertness.

According to her, today is Women Golf Day and it is an annual global event celebrating women golfers and their exploits in the game.
“The Day also serves as a platform where women network and at the same time encourage the continuation of golf playing.
“We also empower and support particularly lady golfers, playing the game for the first time.
“We gathered here to create awareness on the general benefits of the game to women fold because it is a game of the young and old alike,” she said.
She urged the government to engage corporate bodies in promoting the game, adding,” Though, golf is quite financial intensive but corporate bodies can help shoulder the cost of its development in the state”.
The highlight of the event was the celebration of one of the lady golfers, Mrs. Nma Okeke, who clocked 50 years.
