Anambra decides: How Soludo’s men induced voters with N5m per polling units – Senator Ekwunife

The Deputy Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Senator Uche Ekwunife has accused Governor Charles Soludo of alleged vote buying to the tune of N5 million per polling unit.

The incident took place during the Saturday’s governorship election at Nei Boys High School where there was near bloody clash between suspected political thugs loyal to the APGA led government and those of Senator Ekwunife clashes midway into the voting exercise at Agu Nri community in Anaocha local government area of the state.

Senator Ekwunife deplored the alleged vote buying exercise, describing the development as an act of corrupting the electorate.

Voting at the polling units 001, 002 and 003 was temporarily disrupted following the tension soaked environment caused by activities of the suspected things loyal to Governor Soludo.

Heavily armed soldiers, DSS and anti riot policemen were quickly deployed to the troubled scene to douse the tensed environment.

Two persons sustained various degrees of injury and but for the timely intervention of security operatives.

The National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Mazi Ejimofor Opara in a quick reaction describes the allegation a fluke.

Ekwunife sad, “The process is going well but we are witnessing so much vote buying where in some poling units the Governor gave as much as N5 million per polling unit.”

“As a former lawmaker, I will definitely advise my colleagues to do something more drastic about vote buying in Nigeria and if id is not checked it would be difficult for people who are competent who has the capacity to lead to get the opportunity to serve their people”

“This is what is happening in Anambra state where a Governor instead of providing good governance you are busy corrupting people through monetary inducements ”

“The Governor sent some things and infact before we got here Governor sent about 100 thugs to come and disrupt the election but, of course, as a politician is on the ground and an eminent personality in this community that has attracted most of the infrastructures here through my personal contributions not executive position, I resisted it ”

“I am happy that they didn’t succeed because the people massively resisted it,” Ekwunife said.

The National Publicity Secretary of APGA Mazi Ejimofor Opara countered Ekwunife’s claims, claiming that,
“The Governor do not need to be involved in vote buying going by the humongous developmental strides so far in his first term in office.”

“And Ekwunife knows that she is loosing and that explains why she is crying wolf where there is non ” Ejimofor Opara added.
