Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has joined leaders of the Jama’atul Izalatul Bid’a Wa Iqamatussunnah (JIBWIS) in backing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

The development followed JIBWIS’s endorsement of the Tinubu-Shettima ticket at a national symposium held at the Saddiqa Event Centre in Jos, Plateau State.

At the one-day symposium, the organisation urged its members nationwide to support and vote for the President and Vice President in the 2027 election.

The Kano State Government, in a statement issued by the Director General, Media and Publicity, Government House, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, said Governor Yusuf, alongside the governors of Yobe, Sokoto and Jigawa states, commended JIBWIS National Chairman of the Council of Ulama, Sheikh Muhammad Sani Yahaya Jingir, for his efforts to promote unity and peaceful coexistence.

The symposium was themed, “Enhanced Political Participation and Support for Social Justice as a Panacea for Unity and Development in Nigeria.”

Speaking at the event, JIBWIS National Chairman-Administration, Sheikh Abdulnasir Abdulmuhuyi, said the Tinubu administration had demonstrated trustworthiness and commitment to Nigeria’s development during its first three years in office.

“The administration deserves the support of Nigerians for a second term to consolidate its achievements and continue its development agenda,” Abdulmuhuyi said.

Also speaking, Sheikh Jingir urged JIBWIS members nationwide to renew their support for Tinubu and Shettima ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

The endorsement comes as political parties and interest groups intensify mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general election, with the support of influential religious organisations expected to attract significant political attention.

Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, who spoke on behalf of the governors of Kano, Sokoto, Jigawa and Yobe, recalled Nigeria’s political history, particularly the 1993 presidential election in which the late Chief MKO Abiola contested with Ambassador Babagana Kingibe as his running mate.

Buni also commended Jingir for his “tenacity and commitment” to promoting national unity through his preaching.

In a goodwill message, Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, said Nigerians could not afford to lose the Tinubu-Shettima administration in 2027.

Barau also praised Jingir for his efforts to promote unity and peaceful coexistence across the country.

Meanwhile, Buni and Hon. Ibrahim Kabir Masari each donated N300 million towards the establishment of Fortune University, founded by Jingir.

The symposium attracted Islamic scholars, political leaders, government officials and JIBWIS members from across the country to deliberate on political participation, social justice, national unity and sustainable development.
