NAqF sends two to Guinea for Africa Junior Open Water Championships

The Nigeria Aquatics Federation, under the leadership of Dukwu Nnamdi Chamberlain, has confirmed the participation of two emerging swimmers, Olaiya Timileyin and Daniel Udoh, at the 2025 Africa Junior Open Water Championships scheduled for November 28–30, 2025, in Guinea Conakry.

The athletes, who have been in an intensive training camp in Lagos since November under the supervision of the Federation are set to depart Nigeria on November 27, 2025. Their participation forms a critical part of the Federation’s broader preparation programme ahead of the Africa Youth Games set to take place from December 10–20, 2025, in Angola.

President Chamberlain noted that engaging the athletes in competitive action ahead of the Youth Games reinforces the federation’s commitment to elite athlete development.

He emphasised that exposure to continental events such as the Open Water Championships enhances readiness, sharpens competitive instincts, and strengthens Nigeria’s overall performance outlook for upcoming international engagements.

The federation remains confident in the abilities of Timileyin and Udoh, commending their discipline, focus, and steady improvement throughout the local camp. Their outing in Conakry is expected to further boost their preparation for the main continental showpiece next month.
