Natasha: Kogi LG chair imposes 24-hour curfew

Ahead of the visit of the lawmaker representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, the Chairman of Okehi Local Government Area in the state, Amoka Monday, has imposed a 24-hour curfew across the council area.
Monday, in a statement on Tuesday, cited security concerns following a ban on political rallies and unregulated public gatherings.
According to the LG boss, the curfew was necessary to maintain peace and order in line with the directives of the Kogi State Government and the state’s Commissioner of Police.
The chairman noted that the decision to impose the curfew was a proactive measure to prevent any potential security breaches.
“The curfew, which takes immediate effect, restricts movement and gatherings in designated areas.
“Anyone found loitering or assembling in restricted zones without clearance from the relevant authorities will be arrested and prosecuted.
“The safety of our people is paramount. We will not allow any situation that could jeopardise the peace and stability of our communities,” he said.
Recall that the senator representing Kogi Central had earlier stated that the homecoming rally wouldn’t be stopped by the antics of the state government and her perceived political rivals.
