Operatives of the Safe Delta Tactical Squad of the Delta State Police Command have recovered a staggering 1,124 rounds of live cartridges, 20 bottles of codeine, and other illicit drugs from a syndicate of suspected armed robbers and cultists.
Our correspondent gathered that the syndicate comprising hoodlums who have been terrorizing people along the head-bridge boundary between Delta State and Anambra State was foiled on Thursday following the arrest of one of the gangsters at about 1530hrs, during stop and search duty at the head-bridge.
Security sources said that operatives of the Safe Delta Tactical Squad team intercepted one Innocent Uboh, said to be a native of Ogume in Ndokwa West Local Government Area of Delta State, driving a Toyota Hiace bus with reg. no FGG 645 ZV, being the only occupant of the vehicle.
He was subjected to a search and upon searching the vehicle, 1,124 rounds of live cartridges, 20 bottles of codeine, and other illicit drugs were recovered.
On further interrogation, the suspect claimed that the cartridges belonged to a 61-year-old man named Monday Adibeli in Ogume.
On the strength of the information, operatives were deployed to Ogume where the alleged owner of the cartridges was arrested. The police public relations officer (PPRO) for Delta State Command, DSP Bright Edafe, while confirming the arrest stated that the investigation is ongoing.
In another development, on Wednesday at about 1430hrs, Crack Surveillance operatives of the Command reportedly raided a criminal hideout at Okwagbe community in Isoko North Local Government Area of the State during which three suspects were arrested.
It was gathered that the suspects, Alex Johnholt (32), Abe Ujiro (25), and Omoro Joy (26) were arrested with 105 wraps of SK weeds, six wraps of loud, sixteen wraps of substance suspected to be cocaine, four wraps of Indian hemp, four liters of monkey tail, sixty packs of razors and one Indian hemp grinding device.

The PPRO has said that the suspects will be arraigned in court as soon as the investigation is concluded.
Also, the police operatives attached to the Bomadi Divisional Patrol team while on routine stop and search duty along Bomadi/Oboro road, on Wednesday intercepted a motorcycle rider carrying three passengers.

According to the police spokesman, the team subjected them to a search during which one English pistol was recovered from one of the passengers named Destiny Ebibo of Oboro community who stays in Abraka.
The PPRO further stated that one red beret suspected to be of the Icelander’s confraternity was also recovered from the other suspect named George Terrence of the Okpokunou community, adding that the suspects have since been taken into custody while the investigation is ongoing in the matter.
