IGP Battles Insecurity In Abuja With 150 Tactical Police Personnel

As Kidnappers, Armed Robbers Invades Abuja

The Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu on Wednesday deployed one hundred and fifty tactical Police personnel to address security challenges in Abuja and rid the country of criminal elements.

The operatives are from the Police Mobile Force, Counter Terrorism Unit, and Special Forces, they are to reinforce the ongoing counter kidnapping operations.

The deployment will also strengthen security, dismantle and dislodge all criminal hideouts especially kidnappers’ camp within FCT according to the Commissioner of Police, Bala Ciroma who addressed the team at the FCT Police Command before the deployment.

CP Ciroma said the Command will anchor its operation to foster community policing and collaborate with other sister security agencies, while charging the personnel deployed within the FCT to be professional, firm , dedicated, civil with law abiding citizens and be ruthless to all criminal elements.

Meanwhile, Federal Capital Territory Police Command in the early hours of Tuesday killed two out of the four armed robbers ravaging the Gwarimpa Estate.

According to ASP Yusuf Mariam, Police Public Relations Officer, said the FCT Police Command in the wee hours of Tuesday 16th February,2021 repelled a 4-man armed robbery gang at 7th Avenue of Gwarinpa after attacking and dispossessing their victims of their possessions.

She said two members of the gang met their death after attempting to escape with the stolen items while the others fled.

“Fortunately, all the stolen items including computer gadgets,mobile phones and a huge sum of money were recovered by Police Operatives from Gwarinpa.

” In another development on the same date, a notorious gang of armed robbers attacked and stole the belongings of a resident at Apo-Dutse along Apo axis, unfortunately, the daredevils shot the resident dead and left his security guard with a gunshot injury. Thankfully, the security guard is responding to treatment.

“Consequently, the Commissioner of Police has launched a manhunt to arrest and prosecute all the fleeing suspects while commiserating with the families and friends of the deceased.

” The Command wishes to reiterate its unflinching commitment to the protection of lives and property within the FCT.
