The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a man identified as Benedict Anieze for allegedly smashing his one-month-old baby’s skull on the ground, killing her in the process.

According to reports, the incident occurred at their residence in the pipeline area of Idimu Lagos State on the 3rd of April.

It was gathered that Benedict, who was home with his wife and baby, suddenly went hysterical, carried the baby, and hit her on the floor.

It was learned that the suspect set the house on fire afterward to cover his act and ran away.

The State Police Command Spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the incident and said the police, along with neighbors tracked Benedict down to a location where he was arrested.

“The corpse has been deposited at Yaba General Hospital’s morgue while the case has been transferred to the state Criminal Investigation Department for further investigations,” Hundeyin said.
