Christian faithful in Nigeria, under the umbrella of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), have told the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa, that what Nigeria need to move forward is peace.
The President of CAN, His Eminence, Most Reverend Daniel Okoh, said this, when he led the leadership of the Association, to the Defence Headquarters (DHQ), Abuja, on a courtesy visit to the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa.
Most Reverend Okoh said: “We need peace, without peace we can not pursue any developmental projects and we need peace to move forward”.
He said the visit was to reciprocate a similar gesture by the CDS to the Association’s Headquarters a few months ago, stressing that the CDS visit yielded fruitful results.
The Church father noted that the CDS gesture has given CAN a further sense of belonging and created more understanding towards combating the menace of insecurity.
Dr Okoh also said the CDS visit has helped to bridge the gap existing among the Christian Communities.
He also assured the CDS that the Church has seen significant progress in the fight against criminality in the country, especially under his command.
Director, of Defence Information, Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, in a statement, said, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa said that prayers have been the spiritual backing behind the successes of the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN).
He appealed to CAN not to relent on its prayers to the nation and AFN in particular.
The CDS further called for righteous deeds and action among Nigerians to help overcome the security challenges faced by our nation.
General Musa added that the mandate of the AFN is to protect all Nigerians irrespective of any religious belief.
He also assured the association of his commitment to continue meaningful interactions with them to bring lasting peace to Nigeria.
