Team Delta are 22nd National Sports Festival champions

Once again Team Delta proved that they are the number one leading sports state in the country after emerging as champions of the 22nd National Sports Festival, Gateway Games Ogun 2024.
Official medal table released on Friday 30th of May, 2025, by the organisers, shows that Team Delta amassed a massive 337 medals, made up of 126 gold, 100 silver and 111 bronze, to finish top on the medals table.
The host state, Team Ogun finished second behind Delta after pulling a last minute surprise to upstage Bayelsa with 238 medals consisting 93 gold, 65 silver and 80 bronze medals.
Team Bayelsa which took an early lead on the medals table at earlier stage of the games, eventually settled for third position, after amassing 228 medals of of 92 gold, 65 silver and 71 bronze, complete the top three.
Rivers State finished at the 4th position, having garnered 199 medals of 76 gold, 58 silver and 65 bronze, followed by Team Edo, which finished 5th with 293 medals, made up of 73 gold, 202 silver and 119 bronze, Team Oyo took the 6th position with 38 gold, 43 silver and 88 bronze medals to amass a total of 169 medals.
Delta’s triumph at Gateway Games Ogun 2024 further cements its legacy as the home of champions, a state where excellence in sports is not only expected but continually delivered.
