Tension was high this morning at the University town of Akungba-Akoko(AAUA) in Ondo state over an accident involving a trailer and an old student of Adekunle Ajasin University,Akungba-Akoko,Mr Michael Akinniyi.
Akinniyi, was a native of Idanre who decided to be self-employed as a handset repairer at Okusa area of Akungba Akoko.
According to the Divisional Police 0fficer (DPO)in charge of Akungba- Akoko, Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Shakiru Ajibola, the Ex-Student, Akinniyi met his untimely death around 11pm yesterday night when he left his shop to drop one of his workers in his house after closing hour.
He said the trailer hit him and ran away before he was arrested.
Upon his arrest, the driver told police that he didn’t know that he had killed somebody.
As at the press time, AAUA students had blocked all road leading to Akungba-Akoko.
An Ikare Akoko community leader Chief Saliu Majeobaje said Akungba Akoko town has only one road as gate way in and out which needs urgent attention.

Another Akoko leader, the Chairman of Ikare Akoko Elders Forum, James Oladetohun urged government to fix the Orita Ipele- Idoani-Ifira-Isua-Akunu to Ayere road for articulated vehicles to ply to avoid incessant loss of lives and property in Akungba-Akoko community.
