Akure Bye-Election: Five Aspirants jostle to replace late MHR, Adedayo Omolafe

As part of preparations for the February 26, Bye-Election for Akure North/Akure South Federal Constituency, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)will hold its primary election tomorrow (Thursday, February 3, 2022) to nominate a candidate to fly the party’s flag at the election.

The National Working Committee (NWC) of our Party has approved a five-man Electoral Committee under the Chairmanship of Dr.Amos Fawole to conduct the primary election.

Two hundred and forty delegates from Akure North and Akure South Local Governments are expected to vote at the Primaries.

A statement by the PDP’s Secretary of state, Kennedy Ikantu Peretei said arrangements have been put in place to ensure hitch-free, transparent, credible, free, and fair primaries.

He urged all delegates to conduct themselves in an orderly manner, vote, and leave the venue of the Primaries.

According to the statement, “there are five Aspirants in the contest, it must be understood that this is a family affair. There shall be no victor nor vanquished in this race. Everybody shall be a winner, bearing in mind that, the earlier occupier of the office, was a PDP man. No sacrifice is too much to ensure that the PDP retains the seat at the Green Chamber”
