Suspected terrorists have struck again in Kwara State, abducting at least four travellers along the Isanlu–Isin–Omu Aran road, a major highway linking Kwara South to the state capital, Ilorin.
The attack reportedly occurred in the early hours of Monday when armed men ambushed motorists on the busy route, forcing vehicles to a halt before seizing passengers and fleeing to an undisclosed location.
A source familiar with the incident said the attackers operated unhindered, exploiting the persistent security gaps along the corridor.
“Bandits are still heavily present in the area and are actively targeting travellers heading towards Ilorin,” the source disclosed.
As of the time of filing this report, the Kwara State Police Command had yet to issue an official statement confirming the incident or outlining steps being taken to rescue the abducted victims.
The latest abduction underscores the worsening security situation in Kwara State, which has recorded a series of high-profile kidnappings and terror attacks in recent months.
On November 18, 2025, gunmen stormed a Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) in Eruku during a midweek service, killing three worshippers and abducting 38 congregants, including the pastor, sparking widespread fear and outrage.
Although those abducted were later released, the continued spate of attacks has heightened concerns over the growing insecurity in the North-Central state and the safety of travellers and residents alike.
