Third Anniversary: Over 20 projects being lined up for inauguration – Wike

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has disclosed that more than 20 projects are being lined up for inauguration as part of activities marking the third anniversary of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

Wike made the disclosure on Monday after inspecting several ongoing infrastructure projects across Abuja, saying the final list of projects scheduled for inauguration would be concluded before May 28.

According to the minister, the projects are designed to improve the living conditions of residents of the Federal Capital Territory while also stimulating economic activities within the city.

Speaking during the inspection tour, Wike expressed optimism over the pace and quality of work on the road project linking Wuse to the Central Business District, although he admitted having concerns about the contractor’s proposed completion timeline.

He said the contractor handling the project had assured him that construction would be completed by the second week of June.

The minister noted that significant progress had already been made on the project, with the first bridge fully completed while work continues on the second bridge.

“I’m afraid that even though the contractor has shown that the road will be completed by the second week of June, I’m not quite comfortable. But let us believe what they have said,” Wike stated.

He, however, commended the quality of work being executed on the project and expressed hope that the contractor would meet the agreed deadline.

The FCT minister also inspected the ongoing construction of the access road leading to the Mabushi Bus and Taxi Terminal, expressing confidence that the project would be delivered as scheduled.

At the Jahi interchange project, which is expected to improve connectivity between Jahi, Gwarimpa and Life Camp districts, Wike praised the standard of work and assured residents that the project would be completed on time.

The minister reiterated the commitment of the FCT Administration to delivering critical infrastructure aimed at easing transportation challenges and supporting the rapid development of Abuja.
