THISDAY awards: FCT Minister, Wike bags Best Minister nomination

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Nyesom Wike has been nominated as the Thisday Newspaper and Arise Television’s Minister of the Year.

In a letter addresed to the Minister by the organization, the award is meant to celebrate him for contributions in governance since his appointment by President Bola Tinubu.

“Many congratulations on your nomination as Minister of the Year! In service to Nigeria, the
people of Africa and the World. THISDAY Awards celebrate excellence in governance, public policy, leadership and entrepreneurship; and we believe your contributions have made you worthy of honour and recognition.

“From hundreds of candidates chosen by millions of readers of THISDAY Newspaper and viewers
of the ARISE NEWS Channel, you have emerged as tough and resilient in these trying times,” the letter read partly.

The award ceremony will be held on January 27, 2025, at Eko Hotels, Victoria Island, Lagos.

ThisNigeria reports that Wike has received several accolades for his outstanding performance since he resumed office as the Minister of the FCT.

President Tinubu described the Minister’s vision for the country as “revolutionary and very inspiring to many Nigerians”.

The changes you made to the FCT – structural and administrative – is yielding results and elevating the heart of many Nigerians, thank you very much,” the president said.

Vice President, Kassim Shettima described the Minister as “an idea whose time has come”.

“Nyesom Wike is an idea whose time has come. His relentless pursuit of excellence is a testament to the leadership we have in the FCTA,” he said.

Apart from the two most prominent citizens, many Nigerians who have visited the FCT easily attest to Wike’s infrastructural revolution and exceptional leadership.

Even his ardent critics admit that the Minister is a tireless and Visionary leader committed to the transformation of the nation’s capital.
