Tinubu: Chicago State University locks X account over ‘attack’ from Nigerians

Chicago State University (CSU) has locked its official X account, @ChicagoState, following a series of harassment from Nigerians on the platform.

The university had been in the news after Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 elections, approached a US court in the northern district of Illinois, Chicago, for an order, compelling CSU to release the academic records of President Bola Tinubu.

Atiku had challenged the electoral victory of Tinubu at the 2023 polls and sought his disqualification over allegations of academic records forgery.

According to Tinubu, he graduated from CSU in 1979 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting and management.

Responding to Atiku’s suit,  CSU said, “Finally, in the event the Court determines to allow any discovery to proceed here, the University urges the Court to direct only limited, targeted discovery on the University.”

The terse statement from CSU did not sit well with some Nigerians on the X platform, who stormed the handle of the institution and demanded they release Tinubu’s records.

A check on Tuesday by ThisNigeria showed the “tweets are protected” message on the handle.
