“The renewed hope agenda is a reality. President Tinubu’s government is the government that understands the plight of the people that communicates with the people and responds to the people,” Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, declared this in Kuje yesterday.
He said this while commissioning the 5km Tipper Garage Junction to the LEA Secretariat in Kuje Area Council of the FCT.
While appreciating and commending Gilmor, the contractor that handled the road project, for its consistency in social corporate responsibility, Wike charged other construction companies to emulate Gilmor and use part of their profits to provide facilities in communities.
Wike announced to the jubilant crowd that President Tinubu has also approved the construction of Kuje for the Pegi community and that the present road will be extended to Kwaku, as captured in their 2025 budget.
“You can now see that President Tinubu’s government is the government that understands the plight of the people and communicates with the people. Has any government come to speak with you? Have you sat down before with any minister to discuss this?
“So, it is only in this administration of President Tinubu that you can have the opportunity the government can sit down with you and ask you questions, and say what you want, and you say you want this, and the government goes ahead to do it.”
Announcing the various ongoing projects, Wike said, “Let me tell you that Mr. President has approved again that we have to continue the road from Kuje to Pegi. Not only that, the road will continue to Gwaku.”
In Kuje, it was a harvest of promises as he assured them of several projects. Responding to the area council chairman’s request, Wike announced that going by the MoU signed in China with the FCT Administration to provide water in FCT, Kuje will benefit from it.
He said the sum of N50bn has been earmarked for the water project. He also assured that the new roads would link Kuje to Gwagwalada Area Council.
“Sometimes last year, we went to China and signed a memorandum of understanding with a company called CGC to provide water to the satellite towns. One of the area councils is the Kuje Area Council.
“So, in this year’s budget, Mr. President has provided N50bn to provide water to the satellite towns, of which Kuje would be a beneficiary.”
Recall that earlier, the Kwali Area Council chairman requested linking Sukuku in the Kwali Area Council to Kuje by constructing a river Ebbo bridge, which the Minister granted.
When these roads are all completed, Kuje will fully connect to Gwagwalada and Kwali.
In his goodwill message, Senator David Jimkuta, Senate Committee chairman on FCT and Ancillary Matters, said Wike has brought Mr President’s renewed hope agenda to the people, and what Wike is doing is unprecedented. Meanwhile, Fred Agbedi, House Committee chairman on FCT area councils, said the National Assembly was ready to work with the Minister to provide infrastructure.
He assured the Minister of their support during the 2025 budget. He appealed to the people to support the government of the day so that the good things will continue.
Abdullahi Suleiman Sule, chairman of the Kuje Area Council, praised Wike for his performance on the council. “If you come to Kuje at night, you will think you are in Maitama or Asokoro. You are the Messiah sent by Mr. President to rescue us.”
Community members couldn’t hide their joy as they danced and shouted for joy when the Minister disclosed the numerous ongoing projects in the area council.
