President Bola Tinubu met with the newly appointed Service Chiefs on Monday at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
It was their first known meeting since their appointments last week.
The Service Chiefs, led by the new Chief of Defence Staff, Lt. Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, arrived at the Villa at about 3:15 p.m.
Recall that President Tinubu announced sweeping changes in the military hierarchy last week, naming LT. Gen. Oluyede, who was before now the Chief of Army Staff, COAS, as Chief of Defence Staff to replace General Christopher Musa.
Major Gen. W. Shaibu was appointed Chief of Army Staff, Air Vice Marshal S.K. Aneke became Chief of Air Staff, and Rear Admiral I. Abbas took over as Chief of Naval Staff.
Major-General E.A.P. Undiendeye retained his position as Chief of Defence Intelligence.
Announcing their appointment, the president charged the new appointees to justify the confidence reposed in them by enhancing professionalism, vigilance, and comradeship within the Armed Forces.
It’s expected that the Senate will screen and confirm their nomination, and thereafter, they will be decorated with their new ranks.
