President Bola Tinubu has forwarded the National Assembly a proposed budget of N1.78trn for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) for consideration and approval.
The budget proposal, totalling N1,783,823,708,309 was formally presented yesterday through Speaker Tajudeen Abbas’s letter on the House floor.
In the letter, President Tinubu noted that the submission was made pursuant to Section 299 of the Nigerian Constitution, which entrusts the National Assembly with legislative authority over the FCT.
The President explained that the 2025 FCT budget strongly focuses on key areas such as healthcare investment, job creation, social welfare, agriculture, and infrastructure development.
He further disclosed that 85 per cent of the capital allocation is earmarked for completing ongoing projects, while 15 per cent will be channelled toward new initiatives.
Tinubu urged lawmakers to give the budget prompt attention and ensure its swift passage.
