TRACE warns motorists against reckless driving

The Ogun Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) has warned motorists to desist from reckless driving and speeding to reduce cases of accidents on the highways.

The Area Commander of TRACE, Mr. Adekunle Ajibade, gave the warning on Monday in Ota, Ogun.

Ajibade was reacting to the accident at Ilo-Awera Road, Ota, where three persons sustained various degrees of injuries.

He attributed the cause of the head-on collision between the tricycle and the commercial bus to reckless driving and excessive speeding.

”The crash could have been averted if the two drivers maintained stipulated speed and refrained from reckless driving.

“We are appealing to motorists to exercise patience and shun any nefarious activities that could lead to unnecessary loss of lives on our road,” he said.

He said that although no death was recorded in the crash majority of them were in a critical state at the General Hospital, Ota.

Ajibade said that the tricycle and the Volkswagen Vanagon had been removed to ease the free flow of traffic in the area.

He reiterated the Corp’s commitment to ensure the safety of lives and property during, before, and after the ember months by sensitizing motorists on the importance of safety.

NAN recalls that three persons sustained various degrees of injuries in an accident that involved a tricycle with registration number MUS 514 QH and commercial Vanagon with Lagos registration number KJA 692 YA, inbound NNPC Filling Station, Ilo-Awera, Ota, on Sunday.
