
The Paramount Ruler of Saki Land in Oyo State, Oba Khalid Olabisi, has restated his support to the state government’s anti-corruption agenda.
Olabisi, the Okere of Saki Land, made the expression on Tuesday in Saki when the leadership of the Oyo State Anti-Corruption Agency (OYACA) visited him.
He said that the people of Saki land are willing to cooperate with the agency towards realizing its mandate of ridding the state of corruption.
“As a people, we do not tolerate corruption and other socially indecent acts, we are willing to work with you.
“The creation of OYACA is a clear testimony that the current administration in the state is committed to tackling corruption,” he said.
The traditional ruler commended the state government for locating an outpost of the agency in the town.
“Some government officials do not serve the people with honesty and sincerity, this agency provides a check mechanism.
“Our people are decent and peace-loving. We shall cooperate with you by reporting anyone involved in corrupt activities,” he also said.
Olabisi urged the government to create productive synergy between it and the traditional institution in the state, to promote adequate monitoring of community-based projects and protection of government facilities.
“The communities need to feel the closeness of government because we are ready to work with the government at all times,” he said.
Earlier, Justice Eni Esan (rtd), the OYACA Chairman, said that the visit is a sensitization and advocacy campaign exercise for the Oke-Ogun zone of the state.
Esan stated that the law establishing the agency empowers it to investigate issues of corruption and maladministration by public officials in the state.
The chairman said that the Gov. Seyi Makinde-led government is committed to eradicating corruption in the state.
She urged the traditional institution and the general public to support the agency in the delivery of its mandate.
“We assure you of the agency’s protection, be at liberty to report corrupt persons to us for action
“It is not our duty to prosecute, we send files of those found culpable to the Attorney-General for necessary action,” she said.
The media report that the OYACA delegation also held a town hall meeting with stakeholders in the Oke-Ogun zone during the visit.
The meeting brought together residents, local government officials, and traditional rulers in the zone.

Speaking during the meeting, Mr. Sarafadeen Omirinde, Chairman, Saki Local Government Council, commended the state government for establishing the agency.
He said that OYACA is a veritable tool to fight corruption and enthrone probity and honesty in public service.
