Tribunal verdict: I will retire Atiku, buy him goats to rear, says VP Shettima

The Vice President, Kashim Shettima, has mocked Atiku Abubakar of the PDP, saying he will retire him to Kombina to rear livestock.

He said this after the Presidential Election Petitions Court affirmed the election of President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking, he said “We have moved from the phase of politics to the phase of governance. Atiku Abubakar is an elder statesman whom I hold in very high esteem.

“Anybody who knows the socio-cultural interactions between the Fulanis and the Kanuris in the north will know that I have the liberty to throw all insults at him and he would not take offence.

“We are not going to retire him (Atiku Abubakar) to Dubai or Morocco. I will retire him to Kombina. I will buy him goats and broilers and layers so that he can spend his days rearing goats and broilers.”

Delivering the judgement on Wednesday, Justice Haruna Tsammani, leader of the five-man panel, had said, “This petition accordingly lacks merit. I affirm the return of Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the duly elected President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The parties are to bear their cost.”

Recall that Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party and Peter Obi of the Labour Party challenged the electoral victory of President Bola Tinubu of the APC at the Feb. 25 polls.
