U18 African Volleyball Championship: Nigeria sweep past Morocco in style

 

Team Nigeria made a commanding start to their campaign at the 2026 CAVB U18 African Nations Volleyball Championship with an impressive straight-sets victory over Morocco in Alexandria, Egypt.

The Nigerian boys produced a composed and clinical performance to defeat Morocco 3-0 (32-30, 25-21, 25-18), securing their first win in Group A of the continental championship.

The opening set proved to be a fiercely contested battle, with both sides exchanging points before Nigeria held their nerve to edge Morocco 32-30.

Buoyed by that hard-fought breakthrough, the Nigerian youngsters took control of the match, claiming the second set 25-21 before sealing the contest with a dominant 25-18 victory in the third.

The convincing win gives Nigeria an early boost in Group A, where they are drawn alongside hosts Egypt, Morocco and Burundi.

Attention will now turn to Nigeria’s remaining group fixtures as they seek to secure a place in the knockout stage of the championship.

In the Boys’ competition, Group B comprises Cameroon, Tunisia, Algeria and Libya, with the top teams from each group progressing to the next phase of the tournament.
