Africa’s Global Bank, United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc, will host a special edition of its quarterly UBA Business Series to celebrate and empower women entrepreneurs across the continent as part of activities marking Women’s Month.
The event, themed “Gen W – The Evolved Woman,” is scheduled to take place on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at 11 a.m. at UBA House in Lagos. The programme will also be streamed live across UBA’s digital platforms, allowing participants to attend either physically or virtually.
According to the bank, the special edition of the Business Series is designed to advance conversations around women’s leadership by spotlighting a new generation of women who are not only pursuing opportunities but actively creating them across industries.
The discussion will explore how women are shaping businesses, driving innovation and redefining success on their own terms in a rapidly evolving global economy.
The event will feature an impressive lineup of speakers, including the founder of ORÍKÌ Group, Joycee Awosika; media personality and entrepreneur, Tomike Adeoye; founder of Fine Funky, Olufunke Davies; and award-winning broadcaster, Ayo Mario-Ese.
The session will be moderated by media personality and actor, Tobi Bakre.
Panellists are expected to share their personal journeys and perspectives on navigating professional spaces, building resilient businesses, embracing authenticity and redefining leadership as women in an increasingly competitive global landscape.
Speaking ahead of the event, UBA’s Group Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications, Alero Ladipo, said the initiative reflects the bank’s strong commitment to supporting women who play critical roles in driving economic growth and innovation across Africa.
“The modern African woman is evolving in remarkable ways. She is bold, visionary and intentional about the spaces she occupies,” Ladipo said.
“Through this edition of the UBA Business Series, we want to celebrate women while also creating a platform where meaningful conversations around leadership, ambition and opportunity can take place.”
She noted that the UBA Business Series has become a key knowledge-sharing platform, equipping entrepreneurs, professionals, and business leaders with the insights and strategies needed to build sustainable enterprises and navigate the evolving business landscape.
UBA remains one of Africa’s largest employers in the financial sector, with about 25,000 employees serving more than 45 million customers globally.
