Unilorin alumnus presents Islamic children’s book

Mr Jimoh Ibrahim, a 2015 alumnus of the University of Ilorin, has presented an illustrated and colourful children’s book, entitled: “The Beautiful Names of Allah for Muslim Children”, to the public.

Presentation via Zoom, Ibrahim, the author of book, noted that the knowledge of Allah’s Beautiful Names and Supreme Attributes is the root of all other branches of knowledge and the root of Iman (faith) too.

He added that the basic idea of this knowledge is also the first obligatory act the people have to fulfil, as knowing their Lord, will help people to be able to worship Him.

Ibrahim graduated from the Department of Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, of the university.

In his lecture presentation entitled: “Helping our children create a stronger bond with Allah”, Prof. Abdulrazaq Alaro, the Head of the Department of Islamic Law, University of Ilorin, urged participants from across the country, to prioritise their relationship with their creator.

The don noted that obeisance, subservience and being a responsible member of the public are the ways to create a stronger bond with Allah.

He quoted the sayings of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), that Muslims have to comply with all the rules and regulations of Allah, do a regular self-assessment and always erase bad deeds with a good deed immediately.

“They must be conscious of Allah at all times in addition to forging a good relationship with humanity and the creatures of Allah.

Also speaking, Mr Saleh Kwaru, the National President of the Association of Model Islamic Schools, described the book as a rich and timely publication.

He explained that such publication would enhance children’s perception of Allah by registering the character of the Almighty in children.

Earlier in his opening address, Prof. Abdul-Ganiy Oladosu, former Chief Imam of the University of Ilorin, observed that the zoom technology, which is the platform of convergence for participants, is by its nature, invasive.

He therefore opined and reminded families that modern communication and information technologies are invasive and Muslims need to filter whatever is consumed in the homes through these technologies, as information, education and entertainment of social intercourse.

He added that these would guard against un-Islamic content disseminated to the children.
