VDM’s arrest: Deji Adeyanju faults Falana’s silence

Human rights lawyer has faulted the continuous silence of senior lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN) on the arrest of social media activist, Martins Otse popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM).

VDM was arrested on Friday by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) at a branch of Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB) where he went to challenge the alleged inexplicable deductions from his mother’s account with the bank.

His arrest and continuous detention have caused an uproar on social media with some of his fans calling for the shutdown of the bank.

However, in a post he made on Facebook, Adeyanju faulted the senior lawyer’s silence, suggesting that it was fueled by the rift between him and VDM.

He wrote, “Our revered leader and mentor, Femi Falana SAN yet to condemn the arrest of VDM. Interesting times indeed! When the boy that lead people to attack me under Buhari became a victim under the same Buhari and was arrested, I was the first person to condemn it.”

In another post, Adeyanju thanked the people who had spoken up for the activist, noting that others who remain silent may face a similar fate.

“Kudos to everyone that has spoken up about VDM. From HE Peter Obi to Sowore, Davido and everyone. We have also noted the silence of others. The impunity will go round, it’s only a matter of time,” Adeyanju stated.

Recall that VDM and Falana fell out after the social media activist accused the senior lawyer sought a presidential pardon for controversial crossdresser, Bobrisky in exchange for N10 million during his trying time.
