
Veteran broadcast journalist and former Director General of National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), Nasir Danladi Bako will be awarded Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Development Communication.
Bako will receive his PhD on Saturday at the 42nd Ahmadu Bello University Convocation ceremony, which also marks the University’s Diamond Jubilee
A statement signed by Bashir Rabe Mani, on behalf of Bako’s friends read in part: “Among the 826 Doctor of Philosophy PhD students graduating today will be veteran broadcast journalist and former Director General National Broadcasting Commission Nasir Danladi Bako.
“He will be robed at the ceremony today and officially awarded Doctor of Philosophy PhD in Development Communication which he completed in 2019.
“But due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the Academic Staff of Universities Union strike , the Ahmadu Bello University Zaria authorities deferred the Convocation ceremony to a later date , which will now take place today at the Convocation square of the main campus of the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University Zaria.

“Among the honorary doctorate degree (Honoris causa) recipients will be the former Military Governor of Kano State Col Sani Bello (retd) under the General Yakubu Gowon regime and the current Deputy Secretary General of the United Nation’s Amina Mohammed.
“The Executive Governor of Kaduna State Nasir El- Rufai and Emir of Zaria Ambassador Nuhu Bamalli are Chairman of the occasion and Father or the day respectively.
“The Committee of friends and associates of the Kogunan Sokoto and fmr Sokoto State Commissioner of Information Dr Nasir Danladi Bako, felicitates with him on this remarkable achievement bagging a doctorate degree 45 years after his first degree in 1978 , a Bachelor’s degree in English.”
