VIDEO: Sunday Igboho arrives Germany

Yoruba Nation activist, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, known as Sunday Igboho, has regained freedom after two years of trial by the Beninese government.

In a video that went viral on Sunday, Igboho said that he had fulfilled the conditions attached to his bail and would return to Nigeria soon.

He also thanked Professor Wole Soyinka, former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Professor Banji Akintoye and other Nigerians who stood by him during his ordeal.

“I have fulfilled all the legal conditions attached to my bail a few years back and I am coming home to Nigeria, my country of origin, any moment from now.

“I can confirm to you that I am now free to come back to Nigeria. There is no legal encumbrance again,” he said.

It will be recalled that Igboho was arrested on Monday, July 19, 2021, by the International Criminal Police Organisation at the Cadjèhoun Airport in Cotonou, Benin Republic, on his way to Germany.

He had fled Nigeria after a bloody raid on his Soka residence in Ibadan, Oyo State by the Department of State Service (DSS), which accused him of stockpiling arms.

A video shared online on Monday showed the activist at a German airport with luggage, in company of two other persons.
