The Rivers State Government has commenced the demolition of the State Assembly Complex.
This is as the State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara presented the state budget to only four lawmakers.
Speaking during a meeting on Wednesay morning before the demolition commenced, factional speaker, Edison Ehie stated that the complex was due for renovations following the fire that gutted a part of the building.
He added that the governor would provide an alternative location for sittings to hold while the renovation begins.
Recall that 27 lawmakers loyal to the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike had defected to the All Progressives Congress on Monday.
ThisNigeria reports that the defection may not be unconnected to the rift between Fubara and Wike.
