Violence persists in Ikare-Akoko, security officers at alert.

The expected peace has not returned to the troubled areas of Ikare-Akoko in Ondo state as gunshots were booming early on Wednesday morning which reportedly forced many people to desert the central area of the town.

 

A woman who simply called herself  Rachael said people ran for their lives as stray bullets had no respect for anybody.

 

As at yesterday,Banks in Ikare -Akoko still shut to customers.

 

A bank official who preferred anonymity  said they were monitoring the security situation in town before they can commence operations.

 

She said some hoodlums were hiding under the crisis to attack financial institutions in the town.

 

However, the Police, Army and other security agents did a lot to protect lives and properties through their regular patrols of the troubled areas.

 

Reports had it that the victim of the gunshots, Semiu Aliu, a deaf and dump is now recuperating in the hospital.

 

A resident of Ikare-Akoko, Oye Ajileye is strongly appealing to Ondo state government to take more active measures that will douse the tension.

 

Many investors, she said, are now contemplating of relocating to other towns stressing that peace is very germane to the growth of economy.

 

Ajileye appealed to the warring factions to embrace dialogue and peace as panacea to lasting solutions of the crisis.
