We have indeed won together, says Fayose as he hails Arapaja

The former Ekiti governor, Ayo Fayose, has said that he has chosen to look at the larger picture just as he congratulated Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja on his emergence as the Southwest Zonal Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party.

Arapaja, a former deputy governor of Oyo State, with 343 votes defeated his rival, Mr Eddy Olafeso, the immediate past Zonal Chairman and candidate of former Ekiti governor, Ayo Fayose, who scored 330 votes during the election.

Fayose in a congratulatory message called on all the Southwest PDP members to come together saying ‘we should win together and we have indeed won together.’

The former governor called on the PDP to explore the strength shown by Arapaja and Olafeso.

Faose also said that Whatever may be his reservations on the issue of over-voting, he has chosen to look at the larger picture, which is the PDP.

He said: I congratulate Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja on his emergence as the Southwest Zonal Chairman of our party, the PDP.

‘Like I said in my speech at the beginning of the congress that we should win together and we have indeed won together.

‘Whatever may be our reservations on the issue of over-voting, we have chosen to look at the larger picture, which is the PDP. We must therefore use our energy and resources to rebuild the party.

‘I thank the National Working Committee (NWC) for helping to bring this congress behind us.

Seyi Makinde-backed Arapaja scored 343 votes to emerge the winner at PDP South-West delegates congress held on Monday in Osogbo.

About 675 votes were cast out of which 10 were voided.
