House of Representatives Committee on Basic Education and Services on Wednesday call on Muslim faithful across the Globe to use the season of Ramadan to pray for peace, and a united Nigeria.

In a press release signed by the Committee Chairman, Professor Julius Ihonvbere said self-discipline, charity-giving and observance regarded as one of the Five Pillars of Islam should be the prayer point at this period.

“I call on all faithful’s to note that Ramadan is not just about fasting from food, but a time for the renewal of faith in God and increase in devotion and spirituality. Ramadan in its spirit and letter, is a unique time and an annual season of Worship and relationship for Muslims to better bond while looking out for one another.

“Even as this year’s Ramadan comes at a time with restrictions to gatherings and observance to social distancing amidst the coronavirus pandemic, it’s my wish that Allah in His infinite Mercy heal our land. As you gather with your family, friends and loved ones to fast and pray, I wish you all have a very peaceful and happy Ramadan.”
