2023: APC declares free nomination forms for women in all positions

The All Progressives Congress, APC Women Leader, Dr Beta Edu has applauded the move by the party allowing women contesting for any of the elective positions to purchase their forms free of charge as it is a way to open the space for inclusion and full participation of women in democracy.

Edu, who was in the Buhari House, the party’s national headquarters to meet with other women groups since she was elected through a consensus arrangement by the party, stated she commended the bold attempt by the arty to give women a voice as women occupied critical area in any democracy.

She noted that as the largest party in Africa, she is making a strong statement after the party has thrown the ball into their court.

According to her: ” And to further buttress that point, we are the largest party in Africa and we want to make a strong statement that we stand by inclusion, mainstreaming for women, the party has gone ahead to approve that women will be running with a free nomination form for women

“They have thrown the ball into our court. Before now we have women saying we cannot afford the nomination form.

” We have been given the greatest chance to emerge the winner of an election because we will be running on a ticket of the ruling party, a party that has performed, a party that has provided welfare for Nigeria, a party that is ready to mainstream women

“Women should stand up and contest. We are going into a series of processes that will lead up to the 2023 elections, we must be actively involved, we must come all out, go from door to door and desensitise women

“To go out and register with the ongoing INEC registration”.
