A former Presidential aide, Obol Okoi Obono-Obla has hailed Nyesom Wike over his performance in less than six months as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Speaking with newsmen on Sunday, Obono-Obla stated that Wike was gradually becoming one of the best ministers under the President Bola Tinubu administration.
He also praised President Tinubu for appointing Wike as the FCT Minister, despite “grumblings from ethic bigots.”
Obono-Obla said ” The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barrister Nyesom Wike is gradually becoming one of the best Ministers in the current administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“Less than six months after his coming into office he has demonstrated that he knows his onions.
“He is carrying out far-reaching and fundamental reforms of the administration of the Federal Capital Territory, to return to the vision of the founding fathers and restore its original master plan and aesthetics.
“One of the reforms initiated by Barrister Wike that resonates well with many residents of Abuja is an administrative procedure he has introduced to restore transparency, accountability, and orderliness to the hitherto chaotic and opaque land administration in Abuja.
“These administrative measures include the requirements that a certificate of occupancy contain an NIN and BVN.
“Also, the requirement is that all landlords in Abuja must recertify their title documents.
“As a goal-getter, and a big-hearted leader who is not afraid to tread, where the fiddle-minded dread, Barrister Wike has embarked on measures to complete ongoing road projects and also resuscitate the numerous abandoned road construction projects, which dot the landscape of the city of Abuja for the past 15 years and caught the eye of sorry and indeed ugly spectacle.
“He has removed the Federal Capital Territory Abuja from the Single Treasury Account (TSA) to stop the bottlenecks and administrative red-tapism that have plagued the financial architecture of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja since TSA was introduced in 2015.
This is to internalize and enhance efficient service delivery in the bureaucracy of the Federal Capital Territory.
“I will suggest that Barrister Wike should also embark on massive flower and tree planting to preserve Abuja’s ecosystem and beautify it.
“Also, l suggest that all the overhead bridges should be painted or even tiled to give them ambience and colour.
“Barrister Wike is a man of strong character, conviction, courage and a hardnose administrator.
He has amply demonstrated these positive character steaks and leadership skills which most Nigerian leaders grossly lack.
“He is the first Nigerian of the South/South Geopolitical zone to be appointed the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja since the city was founded in 1976 and he is proving his mettle.
“Credit must also go to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for having the courage to appoint Barrister Wike despite the posturing of some sectional and ethnic bigots and irredentists.”
