The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, on Friday commissioned a pedestrian bridge constructed by the Dunamis International Gospel Centre across the ten-lane Airport Expressway in Abuja, announcing that the FCT Administration would refund half of the project’s cost to the church.
At the commissioning ceremony on October 30, Wike commended the Senior Pastor of the church, Paul Enenche, and his wife, Becky, for investing in public safety and complementing government efforts through the project.
He described the initiative as a demonstration of corporate social responsibility, stressing that government alone could not provide every public facility.
The minister directed the Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority, Richard Dauda, to work with the church management to establish the project cost and facilitate the 50 per cent reimbursement.
He also promised to address other outstanding requests made by the church and urged private organisations to support community development.

Wike appealed to residents to use the pedestrian bridge rather than risk their lives crossing the busy expressway.
He disclosed that although the church initially sought approval for the project in 2018, the necessary permit was granted within a month after the matter was brought to his attention in February 2026.
He attributed the administration’s ability to facilitate infrastructure development to President Bola Tinubu’s leadership, urging Nigerians to elect leaders with the competence to deliver good governance.
He also dismissed much of the criticism of the government on social media as politically motivated, insisting that leadership capacity should guide voters’ choices.

Enenche, in his remarks, thanked the minister for approving the project and disclosed that the church completed construction within four months of securing the necessary authorisation.
He said the church prioritised timely funding to ensure the project was delivered without financial delays, adding that meaningful service to humanity was more important than material prosperity.
Also speaking, Benue State Deputy Governor, Sam Ode, praised Wike and the Enenche family for their contributions to infrastructure development and humanity, while the FRSC Sector Commander, Tijani Ilyasu, said the bridge would help reduce pedestrian accidents along the Airport Road.
The Managing Director of Dutum Construction, Runsewe, disclosed that the project was the firm’s fifth pedestrian bridge in the FCT, following those at Bannex, Sheraton Hotel, VIO and Setraco.
