President-elect, Bola Tinubu has described the governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike as a principled man, whose fight has been in the nation’s interest.
Tinubu made this remark during the commissioning of a project in Port Harcourt, adding that Governor Wike’s call for power to be returned to the South was “done for the unity of Nigeria.”
Tinubu said, “In Governor Wike, I see a man of principle. He took a stand that the presidency must return to the South. He had the courage to stand by his conviction, not minding whose ox is gored. He is indeed a man of great integrity.
“He didn’t choose to serve his own interest. Not about him but rather in the interest of the nation. You promoted unity and fairness, and you championed justice.
“Talking of character, we can say your excellency, Gov. Nyesom Wike, you are very dependable.
” It is an honour and privilege to be in your midst today. I am a very happy man because I went through a very gruesome campaign, fought hard and supported by many of you, and I won fair and square.
” Nyesom, I say thank you for your contribution to my victory. I could not have done it without some structural support, “he stated.
