FG Extends Current Phase of Lockdown, Approves Further Relaxation

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the further relaxation of the current third phase for another four weeks from Monday the 19th.

The Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 and Secretary to the Government of the Federation Mr Boss Mustapha stated this at the PTF briefing in Abuja.

According to Mr Mustapha, the approval was given after a recommendation by the Task Force was sent to the President.

Among the recommendations approved by President Buhari is the removal of limitations on Civil servants allowed to come to work, and the re-opening of NYSC orientation camps.

Also approval was given to re-commence out-door sporting activities such as football leagues but with the absence of fans.

On his part, the National Coordinator of the PTF, Dr. Sani Aliyu noted that the recommendations for the further relaxation was based on the decline in fatality and positivity rate which might indicate the flattening of the curve.

Dr. Aliyu also confirmed that the aviation sector can now resume fully while Bars and clubs remain closed.
