A woman identified as Abigail Eguta has been arrested for brutalizing her seven-year-old nephew in Anambra state.
Abigail was arrested after concerned neighbours in the community took the boy identified as Sunday to the office of the State Women and Social Welfare Commissioner of the state, Ify Obinabo.
Upon her arrest, the 24-year-old pregnant lady confessed to beating her nephew because he ate the fish she bought to prepare food for the family.
Also, she confessed to beating him for being unable to recite the English alphabet correctly.
Sunday is the son to the sister of Mrs Abigail Eguta, who was brought to her barely a year ago
The victim could be seen with swollen eyes and bruises all over his body, a proof that the ill-treatment had been ongoing before the neighbours intervention.
The suspect however pleaded for mercy, claiming that her actions were spurred by the devil.
