
An Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court on Monday, ordered that a 20-year-old woman, Sarah Bamishaye, who pleaded guilty to stealing N420,000 be remanded behind bars.
The Magistrate, Mrs. T. A. Shotobi, said the defendant should remain behind bars pending sentence.
The defendant, whose address was not stated, is facing a one-count charge of stealing.
The prosecutor, Insp. Christian Okonofua, told the court that the defendant committed the offense on Jan. 24 and Jan. 26, in the Igbogbo area of Ikorodu, Lagos State.
Okonofua said that the defendant withdrew the sum of N420,000 from a First Bank account, belonging to one Mrs. Elizabeth Lawanson, without her consent and converted same to her personal use.

According to the prosecutor, the offense contravenes Section 280, punishable under section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015, and attracts a sentence of three years imprisonment.
Shotobi adjourned the case until Feb. 17, for sentencing.
