Super Eagles assistant coach Joseph Yobo has described the Spanish national team as uninspiring in their campaign in the ongoing European championship.
Yobo, who is a regular feature on the Super sports programme since the tournament kicked off knocked the Spanish for their lacklustre performance as he bemoaned their inability to take their chances throughout the duration of the game.
The former Everton strongman noted that the winners were lucky to have won through penalty shoot-out but warned that they needed to up their game in the semi-final if they intend to play in the final.
“This Spanish team looks colourless and lacked the needed bite upfront.
They must go back to the drawing board do all the necessary correction before their game”, Yobo stressed.
It would be recalled that Spain had got off to a flying start to the match when a big deflection off Denis Zakaria took Jordi Alba’s shot past Yann Sommer but, despite losing key man Breel Embolo early on, Switzerland battled back and capitalised on another defensive howler from Luis Enrique’s side when Xherdan Shaqiri levelled.

Freuler’s sending off tilted the odds back in Spain’s favour but despite peppering Sommer’s goal in extra time they couldn’t find a winner.
When Sergio Busquets hit Spain’s first penalty against the post in the shootout it seemed Switzerland may pull off another big upset, but while Rodri also failed to convert for Spain later, errors from Fabian Schar, Manuel Akanji, and Ruben Vargas allowed Oyarzabal to book his side’s place in the first semi-final at Wembley.
