The governorship candidate of the Action Alliance, (AA), for the November 8 election in Anambra state, Ozo Jeff Nweke has commended the conduct of voters and their unexpected large turnout during the election.
Nweke who addresses journalists shortly after he cast his vote at Ogbugbankwa polling unit, Awka, stated, ” There is no voter apathy as we did not witnessed it.
He said, “Much as it were last time, people have turnout en masse to experiment their franchise.”
According to him, ”People have really impressed me so much for knowing the need of good governance in our dynamic system.”
“That is why they are so excited and enthusiastic in coming out today to make statement. No other better way to say the turnout is very encouraging.”
He said , “Indeed, our democracy in Nigeria has come of age where one can say we have a democracy. However, as far as this exercise is concern, it has been so good despite the fact the election is still ongoing.”
”The day has not ended as people are still casting their votes without any manner of intimidation or otherwise. I hope the peaceful nature of the election would continue till the day goes to sleep.”
Ozo Nweke who voted at his polling unit, Ogbugbankwa Awka around 1.10 pm also expressed his appreciation, for the technical functions of Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC), stating that the Commission really wanted to prove a point different from the previous experiences.
”I am personally happy with INEC together with the manner the election is going on at this polling units in Ogbugbankwa, Awka. Though, we are observing some skirmishes but still, so far is commendable.”he added.
