
Political thugs stormed the Ogun state tribunal premises, wielding canes and attacked some members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP)
On Monday, the Ogun State Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Abeokuta commenced the hearing of the petition filed by the governorship candidate of the PDP, Ladi Adebutu against the governor of the state, Dapo Abiodun.
According to reports, the thugs blocked the entrance of the court with canes, flogging any member of the opposition party in sight.
Amongst those attacked in the clash is a former governorship aspirant of the PDP in the state, Mr Segun Showunmi.
Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Governor Dapo Abiodun of the APC as the winner of the Ogun state election after he garnered a total vote of 276,298 votes. to beat his rival, Ladi Adebutu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who scored 262,383 votes.
Unsatisfied with the outcome of the result, Adebutu filed a petition, challenging the outcome of the election and the declaration by the INEC
