Youth Empowerment: Lawmaker Empowers Constituent With ICT Training, 15 Laptops

………50 Students on Scholarship, 300 got JAMB enrolment
As part of efforts to build the capacity and skills of youths in the Society, which is the entrepreneurial drive of the 21st Century, Prof. Julius Ihonvbere, Member representing Owan Federal Constituency at the National Assembly last week carried out the training of Owan youths on Website Design and Desktop Publishing.
Successful trainees were thereafter, given brand new HP Laptops to further develop the knowledge acquired during the training.
The training was facilitated by Prof. Julius Ihonvbere, Chairman , House of Representatives Committee on Basic Education in conjunction with National Biosafety Management Agency (NBMA), Ministry of Environment.
While expressing his passion for Education, the former Secretary to Edo state Government, said he has provided scholarships to well over 50 Owan students in various approved Tertiary institutions across Nigeria.
In addition, free Jamb registration was provided to 300 Owan students from Owan East and West Local Government Area of Edo State, while also facilitating their participation in various essay competitions for Secondary School Students in Owan Federal Constituency.
Other areas of focus according to him, was the construction of three -classroom block at Oah-Okpuje, Owan West LGA, Edo State, construction of 4 blocks of 2 classrooms with office, store and solar inverter in Awaika Primary School, Ivbiughulu, Owan West LGA, Edo State.
Similarly the Honorable member sponsored the construction of 4 blocks of 2 classrooms with office, store and solar inverter in Owato Primary School Oke old, Owan West LGA, Edo State : Construction of 4 blocks of 2 classrooms with office, store and solar inverter in Owmen Primary School, Ugborbighan Erah, Owan East LGA, Edo State, as well as the construction of another 4 blocks of 2 classrooms with office, store and solar inverter in Ese Primary School in Ivbiaro, Owan East LGA, Edo State. On renovation works, Edeki Grammar School with 10 standard classroom blocks, staff room, including principal’s Quarter were refurbished with the Installation of 5,000 gallon capacity steel water storage in Owan East LGA, Edo State. Also renovation works were carried on Agbalosu Primary School, Iyiakhara, Warrake, Owan East LGA, Edo State, with several others ongoing.
