
The Grand Council of Yoruba Youths has congratulated Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State and the Speaker, House of Representatives, Mr Femi Gbajabiamila, on their birthday anniversary.
Newsmen report that Sanwo-Olu and Gbajabiamila celebrated their 56th and 59th birthdays respectively on Friday.
The President-General of the Council, Mr Awa Bamiji, in a statement in Lagos on Saturday, described Sanwo-Olu as “people’s governor” and Gbajabiamila as “defender of the masses”.
“We are rolling out the drums and blowing the trumpets to felicitate with a consumate politician, a grassroots mobiliser, the People’s Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, alias Work in Progress of Lagos State.
“Sanwo-Olu has never wavered in his responsibility to bring the dividends of democracy in all facets of governance to the door steps of all the residents of Lagos State.
“We felicitate Sanwo-Olu on the auspicious occasion of his 56th birthday anniversary, as well as the defender of the masses, “Okanlomo of Lagos State”, Femi Gbajabiamila, who clocked 59,” Bamiji said.
He said that the group was indeed proud of both of Sanwo-Olu and Gbajabiamila for their exemplary heights and laudable record of achievements over the past two years in office.
“Worthy of note, is the beautiful way Gbajabiamila commemorated his 59th birthday anniversary with historic enrolment of children of people with disabilities in schools.
“Kudos to you Sir, Mr. Speaker. Good Governance is about lifting up the children of the poor.
“To both of you, we say many happy returns,” he said.

Bamiji said that the group also remembered former Gov. Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State, one year after his demise.
He said that the council had made it a tradition to be celebrating notable heroes and heroines in Nigeria during their lifetime and even after death.
Bamiji described Sanwo-Olu, Gbajabiamila and late Ajimobi as talented.
