Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf, his deputy, Aminu Gwarzo, and other top government officials have inspected abandoned projects at Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology in Wudil.
This was contained in a statement made available to journalists yesterday by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature.
During the visit, the Governor was conducted around the university by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Musa Tukur Yakasai, who briefed him on the status of the abandoned projects.
Yusuf assured the university community of his administration’s commitment to completing all stalled projects, emphasizing the state government’s dedication to revitalizing the institution.
He further highlighted that Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso established the university during his first tenure as Governor to produce a middle-level workforce in science, technology, and engineering.
To support the university’s growth, Yusuf approved 100 hectares of land for its expansion, accommodating a new Faculty of Engineering and a Senate Building.
Reiterating his administration’s commitment to prioritizing education, Governor Yusuf stressed that education remains the foundation of sustainable development and assured that his government would continue investing in the sector.
Earlier, Professor Musa Tukur Yakasai appealed to the Governor to settle compensation claims for some residents neighboring the university, facilitating a smooth expansion process.
