The Northern All Progressives Congress (APC) Governors have forwarded the names of five southern aspirants to President Muhammadu Buhari for consideration as a consensus candidate.
The aspirants include; Vice President Yemi Osinbajo; APC national leader, Bola Tinubu; Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi; former Transportation Minister, Rotimi Amaechi; and Ebonyi State Governor, Dave Umahi.
ThisNigeria reported that the Northern governors had met with President Buhari on Monday and insisted on the zoning of the presidency to the South.

They had earlier met on Saturday, June 4th, to urge other Northern aspirants to step down for their Southern counterparts “in national interest.”
However, the President stated that he did not have an anointed candidate and kicked against the imposition of any aspirant to be the party flagbearer in the 2023 presidential election.
