2027: ADC haunted by its crisis, not APC, says Morka

By David Lawani, Abuja

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has taken a swipe at the African Democratic Congress (ADC), accusing it of peddling baseless allegations to cover up internal disarray and looming collapse.

In a statement on Monday, the APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, dismissed claims by the ADC that the Federal Government and APC were plotting to destabilise the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The ADC had alleged, citing “credible intelligence,” that state chairmen from the North East and North West were summoned to a secret meeting by federal officials to coerce them into undermining the opposition coalition.

Morka described the ADC’s accusations as wild, unfounded, and a product of imagination, likening the claims to “political phishing expeditions” lacking in evidence or credibility.

“Beyond the rash of poorly imagined accusations, the statement did not offer any substantiation,” Morka said. “Its vague reference to ‘officials of the federal government’ only underscores the mischievous intent to stir public sentiment and deflect from the party’s dysfunction.”

He challenged the ADC to provide concrete evidence if such a meeting ever occurred.

“There was no such meeting, and certainly, no one was coerced or intimidated at a meeting that never took place. This scenario exists only in the warped imagination of habitual deceivers and internal saboteurs,” he asserted.

Morka argued that the APC has neither the time nor the interest to destabilise a party already grappling with self-inflicted wounds.

According to him, the ADC’s internal contradictions and the “Gestapo-style” takeover by vainglorious politicians are sufficient to tear the party apart without external interference.

He likened the ADC’s latest outcry to a pre-emptive excuse for its eventual disintegration, suggesting the party’s leadership is incapable of managing its looming internal crisis.

“ADC’s coalition is nothing more than a gathering of failed political actors — a recycled cast of presidential contenders whose tenure in public service was marked by misrule, corruption, and economic mismanagement,” Morka continued. “They offer no alternative vision for Nigeria and rely solely on attacking APC and President Bola Tinubu’s transformational leadership.”

He criticised prominent figures associated with the opposition bloc, including Peter Obi, Nasir El-Rufai, Rauf Aregbesola, and Hadi Sirika, citing what he described as underwhelming performances compared to current ministers under Tinubu’s administration.

“From El-Rufai’s mediocre record compared to the achievements of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike to Sirika’s controversial Nigerian Air project now eclipsed by Minister Keyamo’s reforms in aviation, the contrast is glaring. These opposition figures lack the credibility, vision, and patriotism required to serve Nigeria better than President Tinubu,” Morka said.

He said by reaffirming APC’s focus on nation-building.

“While the opposition is engulfed in confusion and self-sabotage, our great party remains committed to economic reconstruction and the transformation of Nigeria for future generations,” he said.
