A frontline aspirant for the Ikeja Federal Constituency seat, Mr Olalekan Ayinla, has formally accepted calls from political stakeholders and supporters to contest the 2027 House of Representatives election under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), promising transformative leadership anchored on innovation, youth empowerment, and economic productivity.
Ayinla made the declaration during a stakeholders’ meeting on Saturday after his campaign team presented him with APC nomination forms.
Describing his decision as a collective mission to reposition Ikeja, Ayinla pledged to pursue policies that would shift the constituency from economic dependency to productivity-driven development.
“This is not just about me; it is about the future of Ikeja and our collective prosperity. I accept this responsibility with humility and determination,” he said.
The aspirant emphasised that effective representation must go beyond political rhetoric, stressing the need for bold policies that can unlock Ikeja’s strategic commercial potential.
“Ikeja is a major commercial hub. We must drive innovation, create opportunities for young people, and position our constituency competitively on a global scale,” Ayinla stated.
He criticised what he described as years of underperformance, insisting that the constituency deserves visionary and responsive leadership.
Ayinla identified education, human capital development, and grassroots engagement as key pillars of his proposed legislative agenda.
According to him, broad consultations with community leaders, professionals and political stakeholders would continue as his campaign progresses.
Director-General of the Ayinla Campaign Organisation, Mr Solomon Johnson, said the presentation of nomination forms followed extensive consultations and reflected widespread confidence in Ayinla’s leadership capacity.
“This movement is driven by the people’s desire for credible representation and sustainable progress,” Johnson said.
Ayinla assured supporters that his campaign would remain people-centred and development-focused.
