By Ben Ogbemudia
The Nigeria Police, FCT Command on Monday arranged twenty-four out of the fifty-seven members arrested during the last week clashed between Joint Security Operatives and Sheikh Zakzaky’s followers in Abuja.

The twenty-four were however granted bail by the Chief Magistrate at Wuse zone two, Abuja while the case was adjourned to 25th of October, 2021.

DSP Adeh Josephine, Police Public Relations Officer, in her statement, said no casualty was recorded during the fracas and 57 suspects were arrested and they are in their custody.

She also said that the Shi’ites members who used petrol bombs, weapons, bags of stones, others were recovered from the arrested members.

Abdulahi Muhammad Musa, the head of the Academic Forum of the Islamic movement on Tuesday demanded from the police authorities to either take the remaining persons to court or release them without further delay adding that the police in a statement said a total of fifty-seven (57) suspects including thirty-nine male (39) and eighteen female (18) were arrested and being profiled at the State Criminal Investigations Department of the FCT Police Command.

The police also said a golf vehicle, flags, petrol bombs, weapons, mobile phones, charms, were recovered as exhibits.

Abdullahi Musa last week said what they were doing was the Arab’een trek which has a historical antecedent and religious precedence in Islam.

According to Musa, “On the 29th day of October, 2018. Arbaeen trek was attacked by soldiers under the Buhari regime when it sent a team of Soldiers (Brigade of Guard) and gunned down 41 innocent people on the trek at Karu Bridge unjustifiably. General Buhari is responsible for that crime against humanity as the Brigade of Guard is only answerable to the president.

“Today, before the attack on us, the general public witnessed how the Arbaeen trek like those before ended without any attempt to curb the right of safe passage to other road users. No panic was created by our Arbaeen trek. Love for Imam Husain (AS) is not the exclusive right of Muslims only. [Because of the gruesome attack on the Imam at Karbala, the fortieth day after is commemorated by and for all those who love justice and fight against oppression in all ages, including ourselves.

“That is why we always welcome our brothers and sisters whom; of their own free will treked with us today. This is not the first time they have identified themselves with Imam Husain, they have done it before and we thankfully welcome them. This is the handwork of Allah, and not the trick or influence of anybody as no one forced us to trek, it is out of the free will and love for the family of the Prophet (S). “
